Founder, Lagos Life
Lagos Life did not start as a company. It started as a complaint. Our founder kept hearing the same thing from friends: there is nothing to do in this city. Which is a wild thing to say about Lagos, a place where there is always too much to do and not enough people telling you about it.
So the plans got typed up and sent out every Friday. Forty friends became four hundred. Four hundred became a website built at a cybercafe in Yaba between power cuts. Nobody had a business plan. Everybody had an opinion about where to get the best suya, which turned out to matter more.
The rule from day one has never changed: we only write about what we would actually attend, eat, or argue about. No press releases dressed up as stories. No listicles written from an office in another country. Lagos, by Lagosians, at full volume.
Our mission is simple. Document the greatest city on earth so well that nobody ever again says there is nothing to do in Lagos.
people thinking Lagos
Lagos Life starts as a WhatsApp broadcast list of weekend plans sent to 40 friends.
The first website launches from a Yaba cybercafe. It crashes on day one because too many people showed up. We took it as a compliment.
The city goes quiet and we go deeper. Stories become the heart of the platform while the events wait.
Lagos comes back louder. We cover 400 events in one year and hire our first full time writer.
The City Guide launches. Eight districts, no filter, written by people who actually live in them.
112,000 readers and counting. Same mission, bigger speakers.
